If you are here, you probably need help deciding what to do to celebrate the holidays. I have a few simple suggestions that can get you started on some ideas.

This is one of the best times of year and amazing for spending time with loved ones. It can feel super chaotic and maybe a little rushed, but if you make the time to make special memories, it is totally worth it.

Watch holiday movies, some of my favorites

  • The Grinch

  • Elf

  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

  • The Nightmare Before Christmas

  • The Holiday

  • Home Alone

  • A Christma Carol

  • Four Christmases

  • Christmas with the Kranks

  • The Santa Clause

See the Christmas Lights in your area

  • LA Zoo under $15 a ticket

  • Popular neighborhoods that always decorate

  • Uptown Whittier

  • Sleepy Hollow Christmas Lights Extravaganza- Torrance

Pick out and decorate a tree

  • My family always gets our trees from Home Depot, usually a big selection and fairly good prices

  • Come up with a theme and go for it! Make it whimsical, classic, sentimental, whatever you want

Amusement Parks

  • Disneyland

  • Knott’s Berry Farm

  • Six Flags

Bake holiday treats

  • If you’re not eating your way through the holidays then what on earth are you doing

  • My fave treats are cookies and they’re easy to make and fun to decorate

Do arts and crafts

  • Seriously just roll your butt on over to Michaels and they will have displays of things you can get into

  • Decorating your own ornaments, painting signs or little trees

  • You could even make a Christmas gift for someone

Have a party/ get together with friends or family

  • Make it a potluck and do a secret santa!

Give back to your communities

  • This is a really amazing time to be able to give back

  • Find programs in your community taking volunteers:

  • Food Pantries

  • Soup Kitchens

  • Shelters

  • Place accepting donations for gifts

BONUS: The last thing you should do is probably shop ONLINE

  • If you haven’t hit the stores yet just be prepared for tons of people

  • Unless your shopping during the week, it will probably be less crowded

  • I won’t lie I do like shopping in person for a lot of stuff

  • especially from places like Homegoods and TJMaxx

If you guys are looking for a holiday playlist I got one of those too! I made one on Spotify right after Thanksgiving! Check it out here. I have some classics, some covers, and some original songs.
