Alright! Round two on dump cake recipes. If you didn’t catch my first post, check it out here. I made my first ever dump cake using yellow cake mix and peaches. It came out absolutely delicious! Now that it is my second time around I know a little more of what to expect. The recipe is just as simple as before just no fruit this time. You could totally still add a fruit but I wanted straight up chocolate😍.
So to get started you need, butter, milk, chocolate cake mix and Jell-O mix. Again, I decided to make this in the crockpot, you can totally make it in the oven as well.
I started by lining the crock pot with crock pot liners, if you don’t have them you can use parchment too. I poured the chocolate cake mix and Jell-O mix in first and slightly incorporated them. Then I added in the milk and incorporated that. Then slice the butter and arrange over the top. Since this is my second time making a dump cake, I recommend cutting thin slices of butter. If you put too much butter in one spot it will taste saltier than other parts. I didn’t want to overmix so I only mixed until the dry parts were less visible. Set the crockpot to high and let bake. If this recipe is in the oven, set to 350 degrees F.
I waited an hour – an hour and a half and voila! In the oven, I would think this should take half the time. Like I said, I really haven’t made these so just check on it often! It bakes pretty much exactly like a cake just half the ingredients!
If you like fudgier results I suggest adding some sort of chocolate sauce or chocolate chips. I saw a few people used Nutella. I would say a chocolate sauce would make it a little more like a molten lava cake (YUM!).
With Halloween being tomorrow, this is the perfect recipe to set and forget. 👻It is a quick and yummy dessert. It reminds me of a microwave mug cake but much bigger. It tastes just like cake and it’s warm and soft and gooey. I definitely would recommend adding in the chocolate chips and some sort of fudge factor.
