CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

cream cheese frosting on top of a layer of red velvet cake

This recipe goes in combination with my Red Velvet Cake recipe linked here! I got both from Divas Can Cook, which is linked in the cake blog post.

Cream cheese frosting definitely doesn't have to go with red velvet cake but it is traditionally always used with it. Cream cheese frosting would also be great on carrot cake, chocolate cake, or really anything you like!

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 (8 oz.) blocks of Cream Cheese, room temperature

  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter, room temperature

  • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. In a medium bowl, using a hand mixer cream together the cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.

  2. Add the vanilla extract and continue to cream.

  3. With the mixer still going, gradually add in the powdered sugar. Mix until light and fluffy, about a couple minutes.

  4. Allow the frosting to set in the fridge for a few hours to firm up if needed. If not, frost your cake or add to a piping bag and decorate!
