So we had less than 24 hours in London and didn't plan on wasting it. While this was our final stop before heading home...and we were exhausted, we knew we should make the most of it.
We stayed at Lord Kensington Hotel and we found it on Airbnb! It was a no frills type of stay but what we loved most it was right next to Earl's Court, which made traveling a lot easier. Sadly, our airport was the one furthest from this hotel but still, it was simple getting on and off at our stops. The neighborhood was also really cute, so we loved that.
After checking in around 4 p.m., we had a moment to rest before quickly booking tickets for the London: Westminster to Greenwich River Thames Cruise, and off we went.
We passed the London Eye first and its just one of those things you have to see when visiting. Maybe next time, we will have the chance to take a ride around it.
Tower Bridge is what you would think was the famous London Bridge, so big and grand. In reality, the London Bridge is quite small. I grew up going to Lake Havasu City and seeing the London Bridge on every visit, which I actually have an old blog post, where I mention it! Sadly the images are blurry after converting my site to a different platform but I am working on finding the raw images again!
We also saw The Grapes, Limehouse where several famous writer frequented, including Charles Dickens! We went the full 2 hour roundtrip without hopping off because it was the last ride back unfortunately. I do think even without hopping off the experience was worth it, and even more-so if you have the time to wander around Greenwich.
Big Ben from the outside and during sunset was so beautiful. We decided to wander a bit, run into telephone booths, take silly photos, and then immediately decided what we wanted for dinner.
The one and only Dishoom. We ended up picking the busiest location which had a forty minute wait and the line was outside. Luckily for us, it wasn't too chilly and the time passed quickly. During our wait I split off to buy stamps for my postcards I was collecting the whole trip. Unbeknownst to me, I bought stamps that could only be sent within the U.K. The lovely cashier refused a refund even though they were not used...so beware lol. I ended up just mailing them in the US with a London stamp on them! Once I was back in line, they started bringing out mini samples of their warm masala chai. Soooo good!
Let me tell you, it was worth the wait. The service, the food, the ambiance, 10/10. If you can make it to a Dishoom you gotta try it! Our waiter recommended everything and it did not disappoint. We also got a cute little chocolate dessert with vanilla ice cream.
Here is where we meet the end of our travels. We were heading to the airport bright and early the next morning. We were happy to finally be making it home, to all our awaiting families and pets. We thought we were slick using the Mobile Passport "hack" but the line ended up being 10x longer in wait time. So if the regular line looks pretty short, you might just be better off using that one.
My mom made me the cutest little welcome home sign and that was the cherry on top to finally being home in my own bed!
Anyways, if you missed any of my other travel posts check them out below! I also talked about the places I visited on my social media and podcast if you want more tea. 'Til the next European adventure!!
